Description
A sudoku-inspired strategy roguelike where you build a team of animal sailors and guide your ark through perilous seas. Master tactical placement, face unpredictable encounters, and battle deadly foes as you chart a course through this reimagined world of Noah's Ark.
History
Noah's Dilemma's prototype was made back in 2021, when I just wrapped up my previous game and was hoping to make something less narrative-focused.
In search of an ideal gameplay, I discovered Sudoku to be a lesser-explored genre in terms of premium games. So I built a prototype with an adapted Sudoku ruleset, and managed to fit in a worldview of Noah's Ark.
This prototype, however, didn't turn out to be as fun as I expected, so I buried it like I did with many other fruitless prototypes I made during that time. But unlike many of the ideas I dropped and never looked at again,
this Sudoku prototype somehow sticked with me.
As a result, when I finally decided to quit my job and become a full-time indie game developer in November 2023, I reopened this project and gave it another try.
My hunch was correct: after some iterations and crucial design changes, this prototype became interesting enough that I decided to turn it into my second commercial game.
This time I also learned to compose music for it, making it my first solo project.
Now after working on it full-time for 14 months straight, I plan to release it on Steam in the first half of 2025.
